On Thursday 20th April and Thursday 4th May, from 6-7pm, local people can drop into Field Lodge and learn about what it is like to live with dementia.
The Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is an initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition.
The home will be joining forces with St Ives Dementia Friendly Community and the local Alzheimer’s Society, as part of its commitment to promoting dementia awareness among local people.
The team at Field Lodge will be on hand throughout the afternoon to help visitors discover the small things they can do to make a difference to people living with dementia in the community.
Katie Wilkinson, home manager at Field Lodge, said: “At Field Lodge we have a commitment to encourage others to learn about dementia, and we are really proud of the progress we have made by supporting Dementia Friends. We want to assist with educating people, but also help the community turn their knowledge into action by making our community more aware of those living with dementia.
“We look forward to welcoming members of St Ives and the wider community into our home on Thursday 20th April and Thursday 4th May to spread awareness of dementia.”
