Amberley Lodge hosts falls prevention event

Amberley Lodge is inviting local people to a free advice-led event to find out more about preventing falls among older people.

On Thursday 9^th February, from 2pm to 4pm, Amberley Lodge will open the doors to the care home on Downlands Road for its free event offering advice and guidance to all.

Harm Gordijn from Falls Management Training will give expert advice and guidance on preventing falls, tips on activities and exercises that improve balance and reduce the risk of falls, and advice on how to maintain independence.

After the event, there will be a Q&A session with Harm, and visitors who attend the event will also have the opportunity to meet the team at Amberley Lodge and take a tour of the care home.

Krystyna Bosko, home manager at Amberley Lodge said: “Here at Amberley Lodge, we seek to provide in-depth advice to people in the local community on topics relating to our work. Falls prevention is very important to the team here, and to the wellbeing of the residents, as accidental falls can occasionally lead to further health issues.

“It is imperative we create a safe environment for older people in the community, so we’re sharing our expertise to help ensure the correct safety procedures are in place to prevent accidents.”
