Doug Tamsett, aged 93, a resident at Bowes House care home, received a visit from year nine pupils, Katie, Maddi, Megan, Holly and Ami, from Hailsham Community College.
It has become a tradition for the students to give Doug a wave on their way home from school as they pass him each day.
To give Doug an extra special Christmas time boost, the pupils planned a special trip to Bowes House to surprise him with a Christmas present. They spent time together, chatting and discussing Christmas plans, and Doug’s present was very gratefully received.
Home manager at Bowes House, Helena Barrow, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the pupils from Hailsham Community College for visiting Doug, they have made his Christmas all the more special.
“Every day Doug sits in the lounge and gets so much pleasure from waving to the pupils as they walk home from school. It was fantastic to see such kindness from them and a wonderful opportunity for the different generations to spend quality time together.”
