Essex care home named home of the year

A local care home in Stansted is celebrating after it won Home of the Year at a national awards ceremony. 

Mountfitchet House care home was one of three finalists in the category, and beat off stiff competition from over 100 Care UK homes nationally. 

The Residential Care Services (RCS) Stars Awards recognise and reward individual and team excellence across Care UK’s RCS division. The Care UK team at Mountfitchet House was nominated for the award for their outstanding performance across all areas of resident care over the last year. 

The panel of judges found that Mountfitchet House, which opened in 2014 and provides care for up to 60 older people, has consistently delivered excellent care and strives to continuously improve resident wellbeing. This has resulted in an ‘outstanding’ rating for ‘caring’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). 

Allison Squires, home manager at Mountfitchet House, said: “We are thrilled to have won Home of the Year in Care UK’s national RCS Stars Awards. 

“Since we opened, everyone has worked incredibly hard to create a comfortable and homely environment for residents. After being awarded an overall ‘good’ rating by the CQC last year, this award from Care UK really is the icing on the cake.

“It’s been a two-year journey, but I’m so proud of the whole team for their hard work and commitment, and this award is for everyone to enjoy.”
