For the opening night, local people were invited to Field Lodge to take a look at a collection of residents’ family photos.
The collection of photos celebrating the lives of residents was on display in the dedicated exhibition space at Field Lodge care home, as the first in a series of events.
Visitors also had the chance to admire a selection of bespoke works of art created by the residents, including a selection of landscape, sea-side and floral paintings.
Lisa Houghton, home manager at Care UK’s Field Lodge, said: “We are delighted to have opened the doors for our very first art exhibition. The event was a wonderful opportunity to welcome the local community to this celebration of residents’ lives and see the exceptional paintings they have created.
“The event was very nostalgic and was a wonderful opportunity for residents to explore their creative side by painting their own pictures of childhood memories. For those living with dementia, this can help give a sense of familiarity and comfort.”
As part of this evolving exhibition, Field Lodge will be working with community groups and schools in the local area, including the nearby St Ivo School, in creating interpretations of residents’ life stories in artwork.
Field Lodge is a modern purpose-built care home providing full-time residential, nursing, and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has a choice of lounges and dining rooms along with facilities such as an activity room, therapy room and a hairdressing salon.
