The care home beat off stiff competition from over 100 Care UK care homes nationally, with the team at Cleves Place praised for enhancing residents’ wellbeing and taking a creative approach to person-centred care.
The annual Residential Care Services (RCS) Stars Awards recognise and rewards individual and team excellence across Care UK’s RCS division. The ceremony took place on Thursday 17th November at Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire.
The panel of judges found that the level of care at Cleves Place has led to the enhanced wellbeing of residents, with impressive outcomes for those living with dementia. The team was also praised for their creativity, expertise, activity-based care and commitment to supporting those living with dementia.
For example, when one resident moved to Cleves Place she struggled to remain seated for a whole meal, often joining at the start but leaving the table shortly after. The care team was worried about her missing meals and met with the home’s chef to develop a creative solution. The team created a snack box, which included finger foods which can be easily eaten on the move. Each section of the box includes a different food choice, from fruit and cheese, to her favourite – Weetabix with butter and jam.
Since the snack boxes have been introduced, the resident has gained and maintained weight, and her family are extremely happy with her progress.
Sally Shadbolt, home manager at Cleves Place, said: “We are thrilled to have won the Great Dementia Care Award in Care UK’s national RCS Stars awards. The team work together to ensure residents receive the highest level of care, personalised to meet their individual needs. This award is testament to the expertise of the team and the caring environment we have created here at Cleves Place.”
