René, from Plymouth, will join the team Mountfitchet House, having worked in the industry for over 20 years after attended a local catering college. During her career, she has catered for both primary and secondary school students as well as children and adults with disabilities.
Joining the team at Mountfitchet House, René will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen. She will be in charge of creating tasty, nutritious and well-balanced seasonal menus and supporting residents to maintain their love of food.
René said: “I am delighted to be appointed as the new head chef at Mountfitchet House. This role will give me a wonderful opportunity to channel my passion for food and years of experience, into creating meals that residents not only enjoy eating but also supports their health and wellbeing.
“Food and nutrition are so important for older people, and it is part of my role to ensure mealtimes are an enjoyable, fun and a social experience, whilst also helping individuals to dine with dignity. I will be focusing on understanding the needs of the residents to ensure we continue to support them with a nutritious and varied diet.”
Allison Squires, home manager at Mountfitchet House, said: “René is a wonderful addition to the team and will have a positive impact on our already high standards here at Mountfitchet House thanks to her enthusiasm and experience of creating meals that people love to eat.”
