Team behind £6.4million Sevenoaks care home celebrates ‘topping out’

We have moved a step closer to delivering our new care home in Sevenoaks, with a ‘topping out’ ceremony held on site to mark the latest construction milestone in the £6.4million building project

The Mayor of Sevenoaks, Councillor Andrew Eyre, joined our team and representatives from developer and construction partner, Lawrence Baker, to place the final tile on the roof of the new Weald Heights care home, which is situated on Bourchier Close.

The home is set to be our flagship development, and when complete will incorporate both super premium rooms and an upgraded dining and activities offering.  The project is on track to create up to 109 jobs when the care home is fully commissioned, and will welcome its first residents in early 2017.

Mike Parish, CEO of Care UK commented: “We are delighted with the progress made here at Weald Heights and look forward to welcoming the residents once the building has reached completion.

“The home has been sensitively designed to accommodate the needs of the residents and the team at Lawrence Baker has worked with us to achieve our vision of a welcoming but luxurious environment. When complete, the three-storey, purpose-built care home will boost the provision of quality residential, dementia and nursing care for up to 80 older people, as well as creating jobs in the local community.

Justin Daley, construction project manager, said: “As the latest addition to a growing portfolio of residential care homes, this new development represents a major investment for Care UK.

“We take a great pride in the build quality, layout and design of each individual care home – not least because these are all very important factors which can greatly impact the everyday experiences of those living in a care environment.

“As work continues in Sevenoaks, Care UK’s vison for the home is well on the way to being realised; and we wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge progress and celebrate the topping out with our construction partners and other stakeholders.”

Luke Hollick, commercial director for contractor Lawrence Baker, who is overseeing the development in Sevenoaks, added: “As a specialist contractor within the care related sector, we could not have asked for a more cohesive approach from Care UK. This is a key project for Lawrence Baker and we are all proud to be playing a part in the delivery of a high quality facility for the local community.

“It has been a great pleasure working with Care UK to create a welcoming and fit-for-purpose home, and our team look forward to delivering an excellent quality building that will welcome many residents for years to come.”

Frank Wright, projects director at developer Kitewood, added: “We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Care UK and feel positive that together we have created a first class environment for the future residents. I am confident the dedication and attention to detail applied to this project by everybody involved will be demonstrated in the completed care home in Sevenoaks.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives while promoting independence, the new care home in Sevenoaks, Weald Heights, will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities.

The layout of the building will facilitate the creation of close knit communities and will be configured into a series of individual suites with a dedicated lounge and dining room.  Each bedroom will have an en-suite bathroom, together with a flat-screen television, adjustable profile bed, and a 24-hour nurse call system.
