During their visit, members of the new ‘Green Fingers’ gardening club planned which plants will work best for a brand new dedicated orchard, that arrived at Abney Court last week.
The ‘Green Fingers’ gardening club has been set up so that residents who are interested in gardening can continue their hobby and others can relax and enjoy the surroundings. Several residents are avid gardeners and the new club offers a therapeutic activity which provides a sense of calm, relaxation and great satisfaction.
The ‘Green Fingers’ members will be helping to transform the raised planters and create their very own gardening space for the home.
Tracy Mitchell, home manager at Abney Court, said: “At Abney Court, we want to ensure our residents can continue with activities they are interested in. This new club allows them to take ownership of their hard work, which provides a great sense of purpose, all whilst getting outside in the fresh air.
“Over time we hope to be able to invite local horticultural organisations and groups to come along and share their knowledge with the club. We also hope that in a few months members of the ‘Green Fingers' club will be able to create their own vegetable patch.”
