Colne View fundraising event a soaring success

The team at Colne View care home and day centre in Halstead is celebrating after raising over £400 for the Essex Air Ambulance. 

Family, friends and local people joined residents and the Care UK team for a fundraising day where visitors enjoyed a barbecue and homemade cakes. There was also a raffle, and live entertainment from Tanglewood, who performed popular music from the 1960s through to the modern day.  

Richard Gibbens, grandson of Colne View resident, Edith Wood-Smith, gave an inspiring speech about his personal experience with Essex Air Ambulance and the fundraising work he has been involved in.

Omar Taylor, home manager at Colne View, said: “The work Richard has been involved in for Essex Air Ambulance is remarkable. He really inspired the team and residents at Colne View to support the fantastic work of the charity and host their own fundraising event.

“The day was a great success and we are really thrilled to have raised over £400. It’s very important for us to build strong relationships with the local community and this event provided the perfect opportunity for everyone to come together and support a worthy cause.” 

Richard Gibbens said: “Everyone at Colne View really got behind the fundraising efforts and not only did we manage to raise £417 for the charity but we also had a fantastic day. 

“Ever since I witnessed first-hand the Essex Air Ambulance at work with an accident at a neighbour’s house, I have invested my own time and energy to support the charity and its incredible work.

“I would like to thank the team at Colne View for all their help and support hosting this event – it really was a success.”

Richard’s next fundraising challenge will be a 12 hour swim that takes place on Saturday 10th September.
