From 6.15pm, the care home on Battle Road will be transformed for the First Draft Theatre’s production of the classic Shakespeare comedy.
This free performance has been designed to be dementia friendly. The show is accessible for all ages and abilities, with the audience gently immersed into Shakespeare’s magical world.
Bowes House home manager, Helena Barrow, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming First Draft Theatre to Bowes House for this very special performance. The colourful sights and distinctive sounds of a theatre production provides plenty of sensory stimulation for older people and the sensitively designed nature of this performance ensures it is also suitable for those living with dementia.
“I would encourage friends, relatives and visitors who would like to join us to book their free tickets soon, as I‘m sure places will fill up quickly.”
Laura Harling, artistic director of the First Draft Theatre Company, said: “We are thrilled to be performing for residents at Bowes House and the local community. We work very closely with care providers and the Alzheimer’s Society to create performances that are entertaining for all.
“I’m very passionate about combining my care work skills and experience working in theatre to bring classic productions to life for older people and we hope everyone enjoys the show.”
