Appleby House was one of thousands of care homes across the UK which took part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
There was a ‘right royal knees up’ at Appleby House in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday. The celebrations included a fun street party, complete with traditional decorations and refreshments.
Shona Bradbury, home manager at Appleby House, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike. We all are proud of the warm and welcoming quality care environment we have created here at Appleby House, and we took great delight in showcasing our home and all the good work we do here.
“The day was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links with the local community.”
