The home welcomed family, friends, members of the local community and pupils from Robin Hood Primary School on Bowness Crescent to celebrate its grand launch in true style. The day also celebrated Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
Councillor Rowena Bass, Deputy Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, was in attendance as a VIP guest to perform the ribbon cutting and officially open Sherwood Grange.
A host of family-friendly activities took place, including guided tours, a question and answer session with the home manager, and entertainment from Twin Tub, a live party band who performed music from throughout the decades.
The pupils from the local school joined residents and visitors for a fun game of skittles and everyone worked together to create decorated paper crowns in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Rick Mayne, home manager at Sherwood Grange: “As with everything we do at Sherwood Grange, our residents and their families were at the heart of the launch celebrations and we were delighted to have a visit from the Deputy Mayor to officially open Sherwood Grange and mark this important milestone.
“It was fantastic to welcome so many local people to Sherwood Grange, and the live entertainment helped bring all the generations together. We really did celebrate in style and our Grand Launch was a day to remember.”
