Topping off a fantastic year, the team at Colne View opened the doors to the care home for a special party which was themed around the Rio 2016 Olympics. The family-friendly event featured fun sports day activities, including an egg and spoon race. People of all ages got into the spirit of the event and many had their faces painted.
Residents and visitors also enjoyed a movement to music session hosted by the Frederick Douglas Performing Arts Academy and one of the highlights of the day was a rousing performance from the Colne View residents’ choir.
The celebrations at Colne View coincided with Care Home Open Day – an annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
Omar Taylor, home manager at Colne View said: “Our fourth anniversary was a really exciting milestone. It is great that it coincided with Care Home Open Day and we had the opportunity to celebrate with so many people from the local community.
“Our home is always open to guests, but it was wonderful to have a day to bring together visitors, residents and colleagues and show all the good work we do. It was pleasure to meet everyone and to give visitors the opportunity to take a look around Colne View. We all had a wonderful day and hopefully we have demonstrated how modern care homes are warm and inviting, while also strengthening our links with the local community here in Halstead.”
