Having worked with Care UK since November 2014, Nigel transferred from Wade House to the newly built Cedrus House when it opened in April 2015.
Although an NVQ in Facilities Management is not essential to Nigel’s position, he decided he wanted to do the course to obtain the official certificate and gain more knowledge at the same time.
Nigel’s day is very ‘full on’ and he tries to complete all the compliance checks as soon as possible so that he can have time to deal with any emergencies that may crop up and also continue working on any on-going projects.
Apart from Nigel’s maintenance role, he also likes to interact with residents, Nigel said:
“The residents are great and I make sure that I get to see them during the day. It’s not just a question of going in to sort out a problem with their room; I always make sure I have a little chat with them. Making sure the residents are happy is massively important.”
“Cedrus House is a really great place to work, the residents are great, the leadership team are extremely hard-working and full of enthusiasm, and the whole team goes about their daily work with smiles on their faces.”
Nigel is planning to do the next level NVQ, in the beginning of Autumn this year.
