From 10am-12noon and 2pm-4pm, the team at Cheviot Court will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
In honour of The Queen’s 90th birthday, there will be right royal celebration at Cheviot Court on Friday. Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a coffee morning, which will be followed by a traditional street party at 2pm, complete with afternoon tea. There will also be a Royal Family quiz and live entertainment to help everyone get into the party spirit.
Louise Damms, home manager at Cheviot Court, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Cheviot Court has to offer.
“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of South Shields to be a part of it.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Cheviot Court will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age. The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.
