Tor-na-dee was one of thousands of care homes across the UK which took part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
Residents and visitors enjoyed the spirit of the Carnival at Tor-na-dee, with a host of family-friendly sporting activities in celebration of the forthcoming Rio 2016 Olympics. Many people took the opportunity to get involved in tug of war, egg and spoon, and three-legged races; and there was also a fun fancy dress relay.
Maureen Barrett, home manager at Tor-na-dee, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike. We all are proud of the warm and welcoming quality care environment we have created here at Tor-na-dee and we took great delight in showcasing our home and all the good work we do here.
“The day was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links with the local community.”
