Care Home Open Day success at The Potteries care home

The Potteries on York Road welcomed the people of Poole through its doors for an event to celebrate Care Home Open Day.

The Potteries was one of thousands of care homes across the UK which took part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.

Visitors to The Potteries enjoyed a host of activities including a virtual ‘Cruise of the Countries’ throughout the day. The home’s Quayside Café was decorated in the style of luxury liner and, once on board, guests had the chance to sample a range of different foods from around the world which were prepared by the head chef.  There was entertainment from Joemagic the Magician, singer Lea Martins performed show tunes, and a Bonmarche fashion show took place.

Zita Turner, home manager at The Potteries said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike.  We all are proud of the warm and welcoming quality care environment we have created here at The Potteries, and we took great delight in showcasing our home and all the good work we do here.

“The day was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links with the local community.”
