St Vincent’s House was one of thousands of care homes across the UK which took part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
Visitors enjoyed a host of activities at St Vincent’s House including a screening of the Queen’s coronation and a delicious afternoon tea party. The home was also lucky enough to have a visit from the Museum of Brands, whose team ran a number of reminiscence sessions with residents throughout the day.
Adeyemi Salawu, home manager at St Vincent’s House, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike. We all are proud of the warm and welcoming quality care environment we have created here at St Vincent’s House, and we took great delight in showcasing our home and all the good work we do here.
“The day was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links with the local community.”
