Heather View was one of thousands of care homes across the UK which took part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
Residents and visitors got into the carnival spirit at Heather View with a host of activities themed around the Rio 2016 Olympics. Everyone enjoyed a limbo competition, a carnival photo booth, and a human fruit machine as well as an international-inspired buffet.
Trish Banks, home manager at Heather View, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike. We all are proud of the warm and welcoming quality care environment we have created here at Heather View and we took great delight in showcasing our home and all the good work we do here.
“The day was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links with the local community.”
