Ellesmere House was one of thousands of care homes across the UK which took part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
Residents and visitors enjoyed a host of activities at Ellesmere house themed around the Queen’s 90th birthday. Everyone enjoyed a celebratory banquet, complete with live entertainment from the 1940s and 1950s. There were also screenings of the Queen’s coronation and many took the opportunity to enter the care home’s very own Bake Off competition.
Allison Jones, home manager at Ellesmere House, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike. We all are proud of the warm and welcoming quality care environment we have created here at Ellesmere House, and we took great delight in showcasing our home and all the good work we do here.
“The day was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links with the local community.”
