Cairdean House was one of thousands of care homes across the UK which took part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
Visitors and residents enjoyed the spirit of the carnival at Cairdean House, with a host of family-friendly activities inspired by the forthcoming Rio 2016 Olympics. A stilt walker and face painter entertained the crowds; while many people took part in traditional games including ‘grab a duck’ and ‘tin can throw', and chanced their luck on the tombola and raffle.
Michelle Reid, home manager at Cairdean House, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike. We all are proud of the warm and welcoming quality care environment we have created here at Cairdean House, and we took great delight in showcasing our home and all the good work we do here.
“The day was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links with the local community.”
