Care Home Open Day success at Bowes House care home

Bowes House care home on Battle Road welcomed the people of Hailsham through its doors for an event to celebrate Care Home Open Day.

Bowes House was one of thousands of care homes across the UK which took part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.

It was party time at Bowes House, with the event held in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday.  One of the highlights of the day was a visit from special guests the Land Army Girls, and singing duo, The Swingtime Sweethearts, also performed live on stage. Many visitors took the opportunity to bring along their treasured possessions to be valued by a local antiques expert, while stalls selling gifts and handmade crafts, plants and produce homegrown by residents also proved popular.

Helena Barrow, home manager at Bowes House, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike.  We all are proud of the warm and welcoming quality care environment we have created here at Bowes House, and we took great delight in showcasing our home and all the good work we do here.

“The day was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links with the local community.”
