From 11am to 4.30pm, the team at Amberley Lodge will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
Amberley Lodge residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a barbecue and entertainment from St. Nicholas School in Purley, and Christ Church choir in Purley. Visitors are also encouraged to dress up to take part in the multi-culture costume competition.
Krystyna Bosko, home manager at Amberley Lodge, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Amberley Lodge has to offer.
“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of Purley to be a part of it.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Amberley Lodge will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age. The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age. The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
