Residents at the care home on Oldnall Road baked a festive safari park-inspired cake, complete with a lion, tiger, monkey, elephants and penguins playing in the snow. The cake even featured Santa stuck down a chimney along with a giraffe.
The residents at Brook Court were up against some stiff competition, with a total of 21 entries received from Care UK care homes around the country.
As part of the competition entry, residents at Brook Court also wrote a creative story, which told the tale of how the residents at the care home saved the animals of the safari park in time for Christmas.
Joanne Gill, home manager at Brook Court, said: “I was so proud of our entry, the residents and team members worked really hard to bake and decorate a truly impressive cake and come up with a magical and individual theme – I’m sure there was not another Christmas safari park-themed cake in the competition!
“The Brook Court magical safari tale made our entry even stronger, with the plot written like a pantomime and residents and team members playing parts in the story. We are so pleased to have won this wonderful award.”
