After being shortlisted for the third year in a row, Kelvin Luscombe, from Eastbourne, beat off stiff competition from other employees at over 100 care homes across the UK and has been presented with the prestigious Maintenance Man of the Year accolade at this year’s Residential Care Services (RCS) Stars ceremony.
The awards recognise and reward individual and team excellence across Care UK’s Residential Care Services (RCS) division. The panel of judges, which included RCS chief executive Andrew Knight, praised the impact Kelvin has had on Heather View since it first opened and acknowledged his enthusiasm to ‘go the extra mile’ for residents at the care home.
Heather View home manager, Trish Banks, said: “Our congratulations go to Kelvin for a very well-deserved award win. Kelvin is a joy to work with and always aims to enhance the lives of the residents at Heather View. No job is too big or too small, from taking the home’s pet rabbit up to the third floor to visit a resident who couldn’t get to the garden, to lowering wardrobe rails so a residents could still reach her own clothes – Kelvin does his job expertly and efficiently and is a great ambassador for Care UK.”
Maintenance manager, Kelvin Luscombe, said: “I was so surprised to hear that I had won the award for the second year running. Enhancing the wellbeing of residents and supporting other team members at Heather View is what my role is all about and I’m thrilled and very proud to have picked up an award for this. It was also great to see the excellent work of many of my colleagues throughout Care UK being recognised at the ceremony.”
