Family, friends and members of the local community were welcomed to the care home on Nightingale Place to celebrate the unveiling of the suite, which will boost the provision of residential nursing care for older people in London.
Pupils from Servite RC Primary School were guests of honour at the event after they were called upon to lend a helping hand while the new suite was being completed. The school children were invited to submit names for competition to name all four suites in the home with six-year old Savannah Lusung presented with top prize for coming up with Lily – the name selected for the new suite. The three other winning entries were Butterfly, Rose and Jasmine.
The Lily Suite will accommodate 20 residents and has its own dining rooms and activity rooms to help support the formation of close-knit communities. The suite also has a cinema and coffee shop which can be used by all residents.
Home manager, Allison Jones, said: “As with everything we do at Ellesmere House, our residents their families and the local community were at the heart of the event to commemorate the opening of the Lily Suite and we were delighted to welcome so many visitors to the care home.
“The unveiling of the suite is an important milestone as it means we can now meet the demand in central London and beyond for nursing care. We have built a warm, welcoming community here at Ellesmere House, with everything in place so we can provide the highest standards of personalised care, and it is great that we are in a position to build on our existing provision and expand our offering.
“We had a wonderful time celebrating the opening of this impressive new suite and we are now really looking forward to welcoming residents to their new home over the coming months.”
Ellesmere House is a modern purpose-built care home which provides full-time residential and nursing care, as well as sensitive end-of-life care.
