Winchcombe Place opens up access to the professionals in November

Care UK’s Winchcombe Place care home on Maple Crescent in Newbury will be hosting a series of events throughout November aimed at opening-up access to professional advice and support for the local community.

On Tuesday 17 November, the team at the home will be joined by representatives from Age UK Berkshire for a coffee morning.  From 10.30am until noon, members of the public are invited to drop-in to Winchcombe Place to find out more about the services offered by the local charity for those in later life.  There will also be an opportunity to take part in a Tai Chi and seated exercise session.

On Tuesday 24th November, Care UK’s popular free Planning Care for the Future event returns to Winchcombe Place, giving local people the chance to find out more about funding long term care for their loved one.

From 11am until 1pm, independent specialists Andrew Page from Ashcourt Rowan and Stewart Stretton-Hill from Thomas Eggar LLP, will be on hand to help attendees understand their options for funding long-term care – whether caring for someone in their own home or considering residential care.  There will also be practical information and guidance on entitlement to benefits, as well as legal matters including wills and power of attorney.

Home manager, Stephanie Jones, said:  “The team at Winchcombe Place has always been very focused on forging strong links with the community – whether that is with schools, businesses and charities in the area, or with people who live and work in and around Newbury. We have therefore planned two free events for November to link in with some key organisations and to provide much-needed support and guidance for local people.

“Anyone attending an event at Winchcombe Place will have the opportunity to ask questions of the experts, and the professionals will be more than happy to signpost people to further advice where necessary.  There will also be a chance to meet the Care UK team at the home and to take a closer look at the high quality care environment.  We look forward to opening our doors throughout November and a warm welcome awaits all who join us.”
