This is the latest in a series of one-hour sessions which has so far seen over 250 people in Stroud and the surrounding areas find out more about becoming a ‘Dementia Friend’. This national initiative from the Alzheimer’s Society is the biggest ever programme designed to change public perceptions and encourage better understanding of what it means to live well with the dementia.
Jim McLeod said: “I am very passionate about the role ‘dementia friends’ plays in promoting more positive attitudes to dementia.
“It is amazing to see just how inspired people can be when they start to learn about Dementia Friends. This was certainly the case with the team at Stroud Fire Station – everyone was very receptive to the training and it was clear that they are all now looking forward to turning their knowledge into action and to helping to make Stroud more dementia-friendly.”
