Scarlet House has so far welcomed a total of 154 residents for long-term or respite care since it first opened its doors just 12 months ago.
Friends, family, and pupils from the nearby St Matthews Church of England Primary School were invited to be part of the special first anniversary party. The celebrations kicked off when a homemade cake, baked by the care home’s head chef, was cut by the home’s first resident Mrs Vera German.
Adding to the excitement of the day’s celebrations, representatives from Karl’s Kreatures were on hand with a collection of animals including giant snails, lizards, locusts and snakes, and visitors to Scarlet House had the rare opportunity to get up close to the creatures large and small.
Pyela Mwale, home manager at Scarlet House, said: “We were all incredibly excited to mark our first year anniversary. Everyone felt it was an important milestone for Scarlet House and the team worked very hard to ensure we celebrated in style.
“The last year really has flown by we are all very proud of Scarlet House – not least the warm and welcoming care environment we have created here in Stroud. We have had such fantastic local support over the last year and we did not want to miss the opportunity to get into the party spirit and say a huge thank you to everyone involved in our success.”
