With the first residents having moved in to Cavell Court last month, everyone at the home is gearing up to mark its official opening with a little help from some special guests, including Lady Philippa Dannatt of Keswick, High Sheriff of Norfolk, who will be cutting the ribbon and officially launching the care home. The Cavell Nurses Trust, a charity which provides vital support to nurses across the UK, has also been invited to mark the occasion by planting a Miss Edith Cavell rose in the care home’s gardens.
After the official proceedings are complete, there will be fun for all the family when the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary and its feathered friends arrive, adding to the excitement to the celebrations. Representatives from the charity, which operates an owl care and rehabilitation centre, will be on hand throughout the day to give guests the rare opportunity to get up close with the owls. There will also be a chance to learn more about the different breeds and the importance of owl conservation in the UK and the care home’s chef will be preparing freshly-made barbecue food for visitors to enjoy.
Home manager, Anita O’Neill, said: “Since we opened the doors to Cavell Court last month we have had such a warm and positive response from those living locally that we already feel like part of the community. We would therefore like to invite the people of Cringleford to be part of our official opening celebrations. We have planned a family-friendly event to appeal to all generations and we are delighted to have so many special guests coming along on the day to help us mark this important milestone.”
Cavell Court has been designed to enable residents to live fulfilled and active lives, with care and activities tailored to each individual. There is a cinema, hairdressing salon and a coffee shop which is well-stocked with homemade bakes. For those who want to relax outdoors, there are safe and secure landscaped gardens with attractive patio areas and a courtyard.
