The free event will be led by Jon Bicknell, head of food and services at Care UK, and Lisa Morris, head chef at Ambleside, who will share their knowledge and provide practical guidance on food and nutrition for older people and give examples of how menus are adapted to suit residents’ individual needs. Lisa will also be preparing freshly cooked, fine food using healthy ingredients for everyone to sample.
After the event, Jon and Lisa will be on hand to answer any questions and there will also be an opportunity for members of the public to meet the carers at Ambleside.
Dawn Leaver, home manager at Ambleside, said: “Maintaining a heathy diet is important throughout our lives but becomes paramount in older age. At Ambleside, we understand the importance of maintaining a balanced diet and the benefits it can provide which can include: improving health problems, relieving aches and pains and boosting mental wellbeing.
“By hosting a free event on the subject, we can provide people in Stratford-upon-Avon and surrounding areas with expert advice and give them a chance to find out more about the importance of nutrition and healthy eating in later life.”
