South Tyneside Summer Festival

Last Saturday, the residents and staff of Cheviot Court care home on Horsley Hill Square took part in the Alice in Wonderland themed South Tyneside Summer Festival, organised by home manager, Louise Damms and activity coordinator, Erica Hutchinson.

The home went all out to make sure their float and costumes looked spectacular and the residents who took part had a great time. Crafting for the event started early as the residents gave the staff a helping hand in making everything that was needed.

Inspired by the Queen of Hearts, the home decorated their mini-bus with hearts, red lettering and ribbons. All who took part wore handmade ruffs, crowns and the ladies even wore lipstick fit for a Queen.

“The residents had a wonderful time helping to make items for the float and then seeing it all come together for the parade.” said Heather Wileman, home administrator.

Louise commented, “There was an amazing turn out of people cheering us on and everyone had a marvellous time.”
