Both the home and staff dress to create a ‘tea parlour’ look and the conversations, laughs and giggles flowed through the home as residents, staff, friends and families came together.
“The tea party was run by our previous employees” said Anna Phillips, the activities co-ordinator at Tor-Na-Dee “They came in especially to help out and catch up with old friends because they really value the relationships they built during their time working with us.”
The afternoon also celebrated and displayed the Bear Chair that the residents helped to create for the local chair art project. Using new skills learnt like sewing, cutting, knitting, sanding and painting the residents worked well together and talked about their hobbies.
“It was really lovely to see all the residents coming together to share their skills and interests” said home manager, Maureen Barrett “activities within the home are so important to our residents and they have so much fun participating, we try and keep them as varied as possible so they can experience new things regularly.”
The chair was auctioned off to help raise funds for Dementia Research and will be displayed throughout the city over the summer.
