Kenilworth home wins seal of approval from national care watchdog

Care UK’s Kenilworth Grange care home in Warwickshire has been given the seal of approval by a national care watchdog.

At an unannounced visit by the Care Quality Commission, inspectors found that the home in Spring Lane meets the Government’s standards of quality and safety which is assessed by looking at the following areas:

  • Safety
  • Effectiveness
  • Caring
  • Responsive
  • Well-led

During their visit to the home, which provides residential and nursing care for older people, some of whom have dementia and limited mobility, the inspectors talked informally to the team and examined the home’s administrative systems and processes.

The report identified the level of training the staff within the home had, giving them the capability to care for and look after the residents within the home, writing “People told us staff were respectful towards them and we saw staff were caring to people throughout our visit” continuing “People told us there were enough suitably trained staff to meet their individual care needs”.

Home Manager Sheridan Farish said: “I am delighted that we reached the high standard set out by the Government and CQC and I was even more delighted that the inspectors highlighted how the team works to respect people's safety, dignity and privacy.”

The inspectors noted that staff felt supported and they had the support and training they needed to perform their roles. The report showed that both the residents and their families felt safe within the home and identified that “there were systems and processes in place to protect people from the risk of harm. These included robust staff recruitment, staff training and systems for protecting people against the risk of abuse”.

Sheridan said: “Everyone at Kenilworth Grange, including the kitchen and maintenance teams, strives to ensure that we create genuinely individual care for each resident.

“We are all thrilled to have received such a positive report from the CQC and to have been recognised by this key regulatory body for providing people with safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care. Not only are the CQC’s findings an important benchmark for those looking at future care for loved ones, but they also give existing residents and their families even more confidence in the care services we provide.”
