At an unannounced visit by the Care Inspectorate, inspectors found that the home in North Deeside Road meets the Government’s standards of quality and safety which is assessed by looking at the following areas:
During their visit to the home, which provides specialist care for older people, some of whom have dementia, the inspectors talked informally to the team and examined the home’s administrative systems and processes.
The report showed that both the staff and residents were happy within the home and the staff understood the residents’ needs: “Both residents and staff spoken with, spoke positively about the service they were receiving”.
Home Manager Maureen Barrett said: “I am delighted that we reached the high standard set out by the Government and I was even more delighted that the inspectors highlighted how the team works to meet people's needs.”
The report also highlighted the improvements made within the home since the last visit including creating a more social experience during meal times, documenting care planning and training staff within certain areas to improve the skills and capabilities across the team.
Maureen said: “Everyone at Tor-na-dee, including the kitchen and maintenance teams, strives to ensure that we create genuinely individual care for each resident.
“To do that, we ensure we get to know each person, their history and their interests, so that we can tailor each care plan to maintain their independence, life skills and sense of wellbeing.”
