Local community invited to raise a cuppa in honour of Norwich nurses

People in Cringleford and surrounding areas are invited to raise a cuppa in honour of local nurses on Tuesday 12 May, when the care team at Cavell Court care home hosts a coffee morning and pamper day to celebrate International Nurses’ Day.

Ahead of the first residents being welcomed to Cavell Court later this summer, members of the public are invited to drop in to the marketing suite for a leisurely cup of coffee or pot of tea between 10am to 12.30pm to help to raise funds for the Cavell Nurses’ Trust.

Beauty students from Norwich City College will also be on hand to offer a choice of relaxing treatments, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy a manicure or massage in exchange for a donation to the Trust; and local nurses will be warmly welcomed from 10am to 2pm, when they will have the chance to unwind with a complimentary treatment.

Home manager, Anita O’Neill, said: “International Nurses’ Day is celebrated every year around the world on 12 May – Florence Nightingale’s birthday – and it presented us with the perfect opportunity to bring the local community together to honour the many nurses in the area.

“We wanted to say a big thank you to all the unsung heroes who dedicate their lives to caring for others and we felt a coffee morning and pamper day was a great way of doing this.  At the same time, we will be raising for funds for the Cavell Nurses’ Trust which provides vital support to nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants across the UK.

“The Trust, just like the Cavell Court care home, is named after Edith Cavell – a British nurse who saved the lives of soldiers from both sides during the First World War.  This is a charity that is particularly close to our hearts and we are looking forward to involving the local community in our fundraising efforts.”

Visitors to the coffee morning and pamper day will have the chance to meet home manager, Anita O’Neill, and customer relations manager, Samantha Woods. They will also be among the first to take a closer look at the care home as it nears completion.
