Their fundraising success, on 5 March, was in aid of Dementia UK’s Time for a Cuppa campaign. Time for a Cuppa is a regular fundraising campaign that the charity runs to raise money so that more of its special Admiral Nurses can support families who are caring for a loved one with dementia. This year the campaign ran in the first week of March with the aim of changing the lives of thousands of people affected by dementia.
Lorraine McHugh, home manager of Elmstead House, said, “Thank you so much to everyone who made and bought cakes and donated to this worthwhile cause. Residents, their families and our staff team all had a great time on the day.
“At Elmstead House we pride ourselves on delivering quality specialist care for people who are living with dementia. There are some 850,000 people in the UK currently living with this condition, so we’re always very pleased to support Dementia UK and the important work it does.
“As well as improving understanding around dementia, the charity helps people with dementia to receive the quality care they deserve and to live more rewarding lives. We’re proud to have raised such an impressive amount of money and to play our part in supporting their terrific work.”
Elmstead House is at 171 Park Road, Hendon, NW4 3TH. The home provides dementia, nursing, residential, palliative and end-of-life care. To find out more, call 0333 434 3026.
