With the first residents having moved in to Mountfitchet House last month, the home is now gearing up to invite family, friends and members of the local community along to celebrate its grand launch in true vintage style.
A host of family-friendly activities are planned for the event, including rock and roll group dances led by the care home’s very own activities co-ordinator, Adriana Potts, and live music from local singer Holly Rose to help the party go with a swing. Films from the era will be shown in the care home’s cinema, and there will be a buffet of 1950s-inspired delights, as well as fun-filled competitions to get party-goers hula hooping.
Two guests of honour will be performing the ribbon cutting on the day. Ex-colonel Richard A Shervington, who holds many titles in and around Stansted including County President of the Royal British Legion and President of the Royal Anglian Regiment Association (Essex), has been invited as a VIP guest.
Richard will help perform the home’s official opening ceremony alongside Jessica Penny, aged nine. A pupil from the neighbouring Bentfield Primary School, Jessica won a competition to name one of the suites at Mountfitchet House earlier this year.
Sharon Butler, customer relations manager at Mountfitchet House, said: “The team here has only very recently welcomed its first residents; however we have had such a warm and positive response from those living locally we already feel like part of the community.
“We would therefore like to invite the people of Stansted Mountfitchet to the care home to join in the celebrations for our grand opening, and we have planned a 1950s spectacular to appeal to all generations. There will be plenty of fun activities for all the family to enjoy; and we are delighted to have some very special guests who will be coming along on the day to mark this important milestone as we officially open Mountfitchet House.”
Situated on the corner of Coltsfield and High Lane, Mountfitchet House provides a range of high quality care services for older people, including residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as short term respite, palliative, and sensitive end of life care.
