From 11:00am to 12.30pm, Mark Harrison, dementia specialist trainer at Care UK, will lead the free event at the care home to share his knowledge and provide practical guidance for those caring for someone living with dementia.
Mark will be looking at the realities of dementia and will be discussing coping mechanisms and tactics for dealing with the condition’s associated behaviours. After the event, he will be on hand to answer any questions and there will also be an opportunity for members of the public to meet the carers at Perry Manor.
Mike Dearn, home manager at Perry Manor, said: “With dementia affecting 820,000 people in the UK and a startling 25 million people having a close friend or family member living with the condition, there is a real and pressing need to open up access to professional support and information, and to ensure there are places people can go where they can share individual experiences.
“By hosting a free seminar on the subject, we can provide people in Worcester with expert advice and give them a chance to find out more about dementia services in the area.”
Those who attend the seminar will receive a copy of Care UK’s Listen, Talk, Connect – a free guide which helps friends and relatives to overcome the challenges they may face in having conversations and interacting with people living with dementia.
