Situated at 123 Westward Road, Scarlet House has been designed to accommodate up to 86 residents. On course to create a total of 120 new jobs, the care home will provide a range of services for older people in Stroud, from residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, to short term respite, palliative, and sensitive end of life care.
Home Manager Pyela Mwale said: “The team here is very proud of Scarlet House, and we are now looking forward to welcoming local people who want to see the purpose-built residential and nursing environment for themselves.
“We know from experience many families value the rare opportunity to secure a bed at a brand new purpose-built care home – where their loved ones can be the first to make the most of the facilities – and we therefore expect interest will be high when we open the doors this week.”
Scarlet House features its very own cinema, a hair and beauty room, and coffee shop. Each individual bedroom has an en-suite wet room, adjustable profile bed, and 24-hour nurse call system.
With its name taken from the ‘Stroudwater Scarlet’ cloth made in the town’s ancient mills, the interior scheme has been designed to incorporate local history-themed features throughout the care home. For example, photographs from days gone-by have been hung on the walls, helping residents who lived in the local area to recall memories, people and places from the past.
