The regal theme which continued throughout the day included some of the staff dressed as Kings and Queens and all the carers, domestic and kitchen staff wearing tiaras and t-shirts emblazoned with ‘Cheviot Court is Ten’. Residents also joined in the fun with some having made their own crowns to wear on the day!
The party atmosphere resounded throughout the home with entertainment by John Doonan, who sang a variety of rock ‘n’ roll medleys and other popular tunes with residents and staff joining in with the singing and dancing.
Cheviot Court’s chef made sure that a royal feast was had by all, by creating a marvellous buffet, complete with a 10th anniversary cake for each of the floors of Cheviot Court which was enjoyed with a celebratory ‘toast’ for the occasion.
The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress, Richard and Patricia Porthouse attended the event along with local councillors, Eileen Leask and Iain Malcolm.
Presentations of flowers were made to care home manager, Louise Damms, housekeeper Dawn Peterkin and laundry assistant, Linda Allen who have all been working at the home since it first opened and a bouquet of flowers was also presented to resident, Patricia Ogle who has been living at Cheviot Court for ten years.
A great day was had by all, thanks to Cheviot Court’s activities coordinator, James Moore who spent many weeks organising and preparing for the celebrations!
