Care UK Welcomes First Residents to £9 Million Cheltenham Care Home

Care UK, one of the UK’s leading independent providers of health and social care services, has welcomed the first residents to its £9 million 90-bedded Cheltenham care home ‘Sandfields’ today (Monday 3 February).

Situated on St George’s Road close to Cheltenham Spa train station, the purpose-built, high specification care home has now opened its doors, following a 12-month build programme.  Offering full time residential, nursing and dementia care, together with short term respite care, Sandfields is boosting the provision of quality care for older people in Cheltenham.

Home manager, Ruth Baggs, is at the helm of the new care home.  Ruth explained why its opening has been eagerly awaited.  “Today represents an important milestone for Sandfields.  Following an extensive programme of specialist training and robust preparations and planning, the team here is looking forward to welcoming the first residents to their new home.

“We are incredibly proud of Sandfields.  Every last detail has been considered to create a high quality, luxury environment which will enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives.  From the moment they walk through the door, we do hope residents and their loved ones will agree that Sandfields is a warm and inviting ‘home from home’, specially designed to meet each individual’s day to day needs.”

The accommodation at Sandfields is arranged over three floors and is configured in six suites of 15 beds.  Each individual suite has a dedicated lounge/ dining room to facilitate the creation of close knit communities within the home.

Each of the 90 high specification bedrooms benefits from its own ensuite wet room and features high quality furniture and soft furnishings.  All bedrooms also come complete with a flat-screen television, adjustable profile bed, and access to a 24-hour nurse call system, together with phone and internet connection points.  Ground floor bedrooms open onto their own patios, with room for pot plants and even a small table and chairs.

Sandfields incorporates space for different leisure and hobby activities to enable residents to live fulfilling and enjoyable lives, and the care home has been sensitively planned to comfortably accommodate visits from friends and family.  There is a cinema and hairdressers, and The Steeplechase Café – which is flooded with light from an atrium roof – provides a welcoming area for catching up over a coffee.  There are four landscaped secure gardens, providing outdoor space for relaxation and recreation.

For more information about Sandfields, please drop in to the care home on St George’s Road or call 01242 258800 and speak to Customer Relations Manager, Elizabeth Miles.

Care UK runs 109 care homes and also provides care for thousands of people living in their own homes.  For more general information, please go to www.careuk.com.
