Care UK announces new team at the helm of £5.5 million St Ives care home

Care UK, one of the UK’s leading independent providers of health and social care services, has announced the appointment of a five-strong senior level team at its Field Lodge home on London Road in St Ives, as the home gears up to welcome its first residents on Monday 17th February.

Matthew Cox heads up the team as home manager, with overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home. Having more than 15 years’ experience in the care sector, Matthew is well skilled across all aspects of care including dementia, nursing and general residential care.

Matthew will work closely with customer relations manager Christine Martin-Royle, who joins the team to provide the all-important link between prospective residents, their friends and families and the home. Christine will also act as the lynchpin between the home and the local community.

Activities co-ordinator Jade Sweaney has been appointed to manage the packed programme of events and activities at Field Lodge, with the aim of enabling residents to live life to the full, and also provide opportunities for informing and educating members of the public and the local healthcare professionals.

Chanelle Burns takes on the role of clinical lead, with responsibility for recruiting and managing a first class team of nursing colleagues, and for overseeing all aspects of clinical care within the home. Graeme Finlay joins Field Lodge as head chef. He will run the kitchen with a remit to ensure all residents have the option of a healthy balanced diet, utilising a wide range of fresh ingredients.

Craig Prior, operational projects director for Care UK, said: “As we gear up to open the doors to Field Lodge, we are very pleased to announce the appointment of the new team. Each individual has been recruited on the basis of their professionalism, experience, skills and track record, but of course attitude and outlook are just as important when you are so closely involved in the lives of others.

“Matthew is a hands-on manager, who is clearly looking forward to being involved in all aspects of daily life within the home and to driving standards to ensure Field Lodge is a sought-after and reputable care home.”

According to home manager Matthew Cox the team dynamic is incredibly important to the success of the home. “I believe we have an experienced and energetic team which shares a vision of how they want this flagship new care home to run.

“We aim to create a warm and welcoming environment where the wellbeing and happiness of residents is paramount, and all members of the team are passionate about making a difference and enabling residents to live fulfilling lives.”

Members of the public can drop in and meet the team at Field Lodge during open days on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th February. From 3pm on Friday and then from 10am on Saturday visitors can take a look around the completed care home and the team will be on hand to answer any questions.

Field Lodge is a state-of-the-art purpose built care home with 72 high specification bedrooms. Facilities at the home include en-suite bedrooms, landscaped gardens featuring sensory and butterfly areas, a cinema, hair salon and a nail bar. The Slepe Tea Room is also open to members of the local community, who are welcome to visit for free refreshments.
