Residents at Care UK’s Cheviot Court care home had a wonderful time when they met HRH The Princess Royal on her visit to the neighbouring Marsden Road Health and Wellbeing Centre on Wednesday 22nd January.
The Princess was taken on a guided tour of the £3 million centre in South Shields before unveiling a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.
Louise Damms, home manager at Cheviot Court, said: “The residents were delighted when they found out that they had been invited to the centre for Princess Anne’s visit. She is very popular with residents and the team alike and greatly admired for her charity work.”
Resident and former hospital matron Nancy Robinson presented the Princess with a bouquet on behalf of everyone at the home and she explained to Princess Anne that the residents visit the centre on Tuesday mornings for a regular coffee morning.
Twelve residents, and activities coordinator James Moore, were at the event where they took part in chair-based arm exercises.
Resident Annie Porter said: “I really enjoyed meeting her. She was very sociable and spent time talking to us. I was very happy to be invited to join in the activities.”
