St Vincents House raises money for Alzheimer’s Society

On Wednesday 4th December, St Vincents House care home hosted a charity bike ride in the home, raising money for the local Alzheimer’s Society. The fundraising event lasted for 24 hours, starting at 8am on Wednesday and finishing at 8am on Thursday. The cycle challenge took place on a stationary bike, which a local Fitness First gym kindly lent to the home.

A variety of people took part, including St Vincents House staff, relatives, healthcare professionals, the local Mayoress and staff from the local Alzheimer’s Society. Those that took part had the option to complete a fundraising form to gain sponsorship. Alternatively, 15 minute slots can be booked per person and people would make a £5 minimum donation. Refreshments were also provided and motivational music played in the background to keep everyone pedaling.

Administrator, Thinn Tun, who took part in the event said:

“This was a fabulous day, it was good to see everyone get involved and motivated. It was great to see so many people take part, from staff to members of the local community.”

After the event the donations were counted, which totaled just over £600. Below is a picture of some of the participants, including staff dressed in Alzheimer’s Society t-shirts.
