Grangewood relative is presented with Kindle Fire

On Friday June 21, Care UK’s homes joined hundreds of others around the country opening their doors for the first National Care Home Open Day and here we pulled out all the stops.

At Grangewood we wanted to have a morning of fun that incorporated all our residents’ favourite things. So as well as enjoying coffee and lovely homemade cake we also had a visit from miniature therapy ponies Mr P and Wish. A variety of people from the local community attended the day, including relatives, friends and local community groups.

As part of the day we invited relatives to take part in a ‘Relative Satisfaction Survey’, where they would give their feedback on Grangewood care home. Relatives answered a range of questions about Grangewood care home, and their feedback was greatly appreciated. Anyone who completed the survey was entered into a competition to win a Kindle Fire, a prize that was won by David Henderson.

David Henderson’s mum, Iris Henderson, lives at Grangewood care home and David visits on a regular basis. On a recent visit David was presented with the Kindle Fire by Activities Co-ordinater, Jackie Toolin said:

“David is an absolutely lovely gentleman, who attends all of our events. He brings a tricycle to our summer fete, which the children love to play on. He always accompanies his mum on any outings that we go on, such as going to the local theatre and restaurant.”

David continues to visit his mum Iris on a regular basis and attends all the events that are hosted by our home.
