Residents and the team at Care UK’s Ventress Hall care home in Darlington are getting ready to open up their home to the public for a free afternoon of fun and activities on Saturday 31st August.
Residents are busy making craft work for sale at the summer fete, which runs from 2pm until 5pm at the home in Trinity Road, and the kitchen team are preparing a barbecue to tempt visitors.
Judy Wray, home manager at Ventress Hall, said: “We have lots of activities planned for young and old including face painting and hook the duck. For those with a sweet tooth there’ll be a chocolate fountain and delicious sweets for sale which have been created by our administrator Danielle Kinnie.
“One of our many stalls will feature residents’ arts and crafts, as well as a tombola, name the teddy and a raffle. We have some very talented residents who have been involved in arts and crafts all their lives – they still enjoy making things and their stall is always very popular with visitors.”
As well as the barbecue visitors will be able to buy cakes and strawberries and cream made by the residents, their relatives and the team.
Judy said: “We hope that the sun will be shining and people will be able to enjoy our grounds, which are looking beautiful at the moment thanks to the hard work and creativity of our maintenance team and those residents who enjoy gardening.”
