Some favourite four-legged friends will be amongst the guests at a summer fete in Houghton-le-Spring.
Residents at Care UK’s Grangewood care home in Shiney Row will be welcoming visitors to join in the fun at their annual summer fete on Saturday July 20.
From 2pm, the doors will open at the home and the afternoon of fun will include a chance for visitors to meet miniature ponies Mr P and Wish and there will also be donkey rides available for children.
Activities co-ordinator Jackie Toolin said: “The miniature ponies are beautiful and they always join us for our special events; the residents love having a pat and a fuss each time they come to the home.
“We have a strong sense of community at Grangewood. Most residents have lived in the area for many years and the majority of our team members are local too, so when we invite people in for our special days there is a real family atmosphere and lots of smiles as old friends meet up.”
As well as a tombola and raffle, there will also be a bric-a-brac stall, cake stall, bouncy castle, hook-a-duck and much more, with refreshments available throughout the afternoon.
The fun runs until 4pm and the entrance fee for the afternoon is 20p.
