Aloha to you!

On Friday June 21, Care UK’s homes joined hundreds of others around the country in opening their doors for the first National Care Home Open Day, and at Echelforde we took the opportunity to join in the celebrations.

Lots of visitors came to say aloha to the team and residents at our Hawaiian themed event in our home’s day centre and grounds. As well as face painting, side stalls and a guess the weight of the Hawaiian cake competition, there were also tours around the home and a barbecue.

Home Manager Jennifer Sharman said: “It was a fun-packed day and it gave us a wonderful opportunity to show people around the home, to tell them about our activities and about Care UK’s unique approach to person-centred care.”

As well as showing visitors around our home we also gave away copies of the brand new book As Easy As ABC: Care UK’s Top 100 Hints and Tips for Activity Based Care. If you would like to learn more about ABC and how it can improve older people’s independence and wellbeing you can download it from www.careuk.com.
